This is my eighth year teaching, and my fourth year with the Montessori program at NJ Macpherson School. This year we are a 4-5 class. I am looking forward to learning and growing with you and your child this year!
I am originally from a small town in southern Ontario. My first degree was in English and History from Wilfrid Laurier University before completing a Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Western Ontario. I earned my teaching degree from Nipissing University and then quickly headed north, where I’ve worked in Program Support, Alternative Education, Multi-Age Grouping classrooms, Preschool, Grade 2, and a variety of Primary and Elementary Classrooms throughout my teaching career. My passions have always been: travel; education; nature; dogs, and a good cup of tea!
I learned about, and fell in love with, the Montessori teaching philosophy through my experiences at NJ where I was able to see the joys of inquiry-based, hands-on, and authentic learning. I have since earned a diploma through the North American Montessori Center and feel so fortunate to be part of a program that aligns with my own teaching philosophies. I strive to foster the uniqueness in every child and to honour individual learning styles. I am also passionate about outdoor education and opportunities to interact with, and learn from, nature. I am always eager to find new ways of reaching each learner and instilling in them a genuine love of learning that can last a lifetime. I am really looking forward to a fun–filled and educational year together!
