Welcome to a new school year! My name is Victoria Budgell and this is my first year teaching. I have recently completed my own education and I could not be more thrilled to be back here in the north and teaching in my hometown of Yellowknife!
Through the University of Lethbridge, I have completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education. I was extremely fortunate and able to complete the final practicum portion of my degree last fall here at Range Lake, teaching grade 3/4 alongside Kathy Lippert, as well as teaching Kindergarten half time in the spring with Kari Anderson. I have had two additional student teaching placements: one in a Kindergarten and Grade 1 classroom and another in a High School setting teaching grades 7 through 12. Outside of school, I have had experience working in Public Education with Environment and Natural Resources and the NWT Disabilities Council working with children with disabilities. Teaching and art are my passion and I love working with children. I am very happy to have found a profession which encompasses all of these things.
Part of my philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. One of my goals as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively and learning though discovery and play. I am really looking forward to a fun–filled and educational year!
