Sept. 25th – NJ Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Happy Anniversary NJ!
On September 25th, we celebrated our 20th anniversary! There were speeches, a Choir performance, a puppet performance in our new puppet theatre, a school-wide scavenger hunt, and cake was served.
N.J. Macpherson School officially opened in the fall of 1988. Mr. Bill Ulrich was the principal at the time. Mrs. Ethel Macpherson assisted him with the grand opening. The school was named after Mrs. Macpherson’s husband, Mr. Norman J. Macpherson, a teacher, principal, Superintendent, and Director of Education. Mr. Macpherson died in 1984. He was a family man who believed strongly in the importance of literacy and education. We honour his memory by continuing his commitment to literacy and by maintaining a safe and caring family atmosphere at N.J. Macpherson School. We honour his Scottish heritage with our Scottie Dog mascot, Mac, who made his first appearance at N.J. Macpherson School’s 10th anniversary. Over the years, Mr. Macpherson’s daughter has visited the school, most recently in the spring of 2007.
